While there are no federal regulations setting the minimum age required to purchase Delta 8-THC, there are several state regulations mandating that consumers must be 21 years or older to purchase. What has been your experience with Delta 8?

“After a lot of persuasion from my friend who had been using it for the past few months, I finally decided to try it. I bought a cartridge and a pack of gummies to start, just to see what all the hype was about. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. The effects lasted about an hour after I took 3 puffs from the cartridge, which surprisingly wasn’t too harsh on my lungs. The psychoactive effects were a game changer for me because it actually does something for me unlike CBD! It also wasn’t too strong like traditional cannabis. How would you describe Delta 8 to those who haven’t yet tried it?

“My take on Delta 8 is that it’s both similar and superior to CBD. The reason I say they are similar is legality; they are about the only two cannabinoids which are legal. For me, Delta 8 gave a light functional high that didn’t stress me out. As a first time user, I would suggest clearing your schedule so you can relax and (safely) experiment with larger does or different products. It’s a pretty chill experience and it’s great if you’re looking to just hang.”

“I think Delta 8 is worth trying for a few good reasons. The biggest reason for me is because I can smoke a cart or possess edibles and not have to worry about the ops. Another major reason is because the high is relaxing for me and it doesn’t put me over the edge. I think Delta 8 is worth trying because of how convenient and cheap it is and how it makes me feel better mentally and physically.”

Do you prefer using cartridges or gummies?

“I like using the cartridge the best because the effects are instant and it [isn’t] too harsh on my lungs. Another reason I like using the cart is because the high is more predictable rather than eating some gummies and not knowing when they will kick in. Gummies are great for those who don’t want to smoke anything, but the high is unpredictable.”

“I use Delta 8 every evening after I get home from work as a sit back and relax kind of thing. Then I use it again about a half an hour before I go to bed to help me go to sleep and not stay up too late. But on the weekends I use it more because I can still get stuff done even though I am enjoying myself!.”

Do you think Delta 8 is just a trend or here to stay long term?

“From the legality standpont, I think it’s here to stay because of how the government is starting to lean towards being more relaxed on marijuana and hemp laws. I also think it’ll be here to stay long term because it’s a nice alternative to traditional cannabis because of how casual it can be enjoyed. Although it is a very new cannabinoid, like CBD, I think Delta 8 will be around and grow in popularity for the foreseeable future.”

How has Law Enforcement handled an interaction with you and Delta 8?

“As a member of law enforcement myself, here is some advice. If a officer sees you using a Delta 8 product and assumes it contains illegal THC, don’t panic as that will only make the situation worse. Instead, reasonably explain the reality of the situation to the individual and insist that the product is Hemp, contains less than 0.3% Delta 9-THC and is in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill. If all else fails, consent to have your product sent to independent DEA certified labs for verification.”
